On November 3rd, Arden Records will be releasing an 8-track label compilation titled ’National Parks, Vol. 1’. The Arden Records roster came together to create a diverse and truly one-of-a-kind body of work to raise awareness of the importance of preserving not only our national parks, but preserving the planet overall.
Arden Records’ goal is to highlight the diversity across each national park through lo-fi and drive people to learn how they can do more to preserve nature in their daily lives. Designed by Claire Russell, a current student at George Fox University (Class of ‘24), each artwork mimics the aesthetic of a postcard, where the pieces in the collage are a combination of photos, colors, textures, and other features unique to each respective national park.
Provided by the National Park Service Sound Gallery, a collection of short audio clips recorded during sound monitoring efforts in national parks, and Jacob Job, PhD, the current Associate Director of the Bird Genoscape Project at Colorado State University, each of the eight tracks incorporates actual field recordings from each respective national park that is featured, capturing the natural beauty of the unique ecological traits and distinct sounds from 8 different national parks in the United States – including:
- Yellowstone (sagun - “red fox”)
- Lassen Volcanic (Trankilo - “melting snow”)
- Zion (clay house - “i’m coming too”)
- Sequoia (DAVI JUNO - “horizon”)
- Rocky Mountains (Maono - “sun dance”)
- Death Valley (slow-key - “dune”)
- Grand Canyon (wrongnumber - “till we meet again”)
- Yosemite (pecna - “endless”)
